Lakewood High School 5th 48.5

The middle school track and field teams completed their season at the Licking County League Championships, held at Watkins Memorial.
The girl’s team placed fifth in our ten school conference, scoring 48.5 points. Highlights of the meet included Landry Driskel’s first place finish in the discus throw. Her toss of 97 feet 7 inches shattered the school record she set earlier this season. Landry also qualified for the OHSAA Middle School State Championships with this throw; she will be the only seventh-grader in the field of 16 at state. In addition, Landry took second place in the high jump.
Maddy Cline also threw very well, getting third in both the shot put and discus throw. Addy Pound set a new school record in the 1600 meter run while finishing fifth. Her time was 5:54.59.
Eleven girls contributed points to the team total in this meet.
Besides the two new school records listed above, there were two other records set during the course of this season. Rachel Meadows ran the 800 meters in 2:41.6 to better the record she set last year. And, the three-person discus relay crew of Landry Driskel, Alyssa Price, and Anna Cahall got the new record in that event. Their combined throws totaled 190’6″.
The girl’s team won a dual and a triangular meet this season. Their highest finish in an invitational was third at the Millersport Race at the Lake Invitational.
