The cross country teams concluded their season at the OHSAA Junior High Cross Country Invitational, held at the Ohio University-Lancaster campus in Lancaster.
The girl’s team placed 13th in the meet comprised of schools from every part of Ohio. Rachel Meadows led the Lady Lancers across the finish line for the eleventh and final time this season. Rachel earned a medal for her 15th place individual finish, and has been a medalist (and four times, the winner) in every race this season. Seventh-grader Landry Driskel was the second Lakewood finisher. Ally Johnson, Leigha Davis, and Christl Blaha completed the scoring for the Lady Lancers, who enjoyed a very successful season.
The boy’s team took tenth place of the 18 scoring teams in their race. Medalist Jon Holbrook placed 8th individually to lead the Lancers. Jon was a medalist in every meet in his first season of cross country, and won two races. Aidan Bowman ran a solid race to be our second finisher. Seventh-graders Ryan Byers and Caleb Rafferty, and eighth-grader Tyler Enders were the remaining scorers for the boy’s squad. With a mix of three second-year “veterans” and several talented newcomers, the boy’s team also had one of the best seasons in the 21-year history of the program.
