Meet Recap

Both middle school cross country teams had very strong showings at the Licking County League Championships at Watkins Memorial on Saturday.
After battling eventual champion Granville fiercely through the entire race, the boy’s finished runners-up by a heart-breakingly close three points. This was the best finish ever for the boy’s team in a league championship meet. Jon Holbrook took second place individually to again lead the Lancers, with Aidan Bowman close behind in seventh. Ryan Byers, Mason Pound, and Caleb Rafferty completed the scoring for Lakewood. All five of our scorers placed in the top 15; there were seventy runners in the race.
Three of our girls finished in the top 15 to lead the Lady Lancers to a third place finish behind Granville and Watkins. Rachel Meadows went toe-to-toe with Granville’s top two and was in the lead for part of the race before finishing a strong third individually. Landry Driskel just missed the top ten, placing eleventh, and Addy Pound pushed through a physical ailment to take fifteenth place of the 81 runners in the race. Hard-finishing Leigha Davis and Ally Johnson wrapped up the scoring for the team. The third place team finish tied the best ever by the Lady Lancers in a league championship meet.
