Meet Recap

The Lakewood Middle School track and field teams finished their season at the Licking County League Championships, held at Granville on Saturday. The Lady Lancers finished fifth in our ten school conference, defeating Newark Catholic, Northridge, Johnstown, Utica, and Licking Heights. Top performances included Audrey Goett’s third place finishes in both high jump and 200 meter hurdles. Audrey also took fifth in the 200 meter dash. Rachel Meadows was fourth in the 1600 meter run, and reset the school record in the 800 meter run in route to a fifth place finish. Her time in the 800 was 2:44.73. Emma Walburn got fourth in the 200 meter hurdles, and sixth in the 100 hurdles. And, Kaitlyn Bray advanced to the finals in the 200 meter dash, where she finished seventh. Eleven girls contributed points to the team total in this meet.
The girl’s team finished the season with five new school records in the books.
The boy’s team was led by Jason Hinderlong’s third place showing in the shot put. Jason also placed in the discus throw. Carter Senior placed in the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes.
